Working with something close to my heart from day one? I say yes! My first project at TeliaSonera was a cause that my managers and I share: Women in Tech. They have given me full responsibility to represent us in the project group, together with Google, Spotify, Schibsted, Bonnier, MTG and King. We are a proud sponsor of WIT, whose mission is to encourage women to pursue a career in tech, and to inspire current women in technical fields. To make it real, preparations started 5 months before the event; the bar was set high: an innovative event set-up, the best speakers and advocates of Women in Tech, and high coverage in the media.

WIT2016 happened on International Women’s day- and it was a record breaker! In 10 minutes our 1000 tickets were sold out. We started the day at our office hosting a morning session. Our Telia Sweden CEO Hélène Barnekow greeted our 30 selected WITers and invited Linda Hernström (Fiber), Ann Ehlin (TV), Sandra Lindman (IOT), Pär Astner (healthcare), and Rickard Damm (Purple +) to share how WE are New Generation Telco. In the afternoon Hélène was also present as a keynote speaker at WIT2016. She shared how we drive transformation through technology at Telia. Not as one could think, transformation does not start with technology but it starts with our customers and our people.

I finished the day after midnight, I was for sure exhausted, but I had the feeling of mission accomplished and the pride of working for TeliaSonera who supports Women In Tech. WIT was possible because we did this together, with the speakers from the morning session, the awesome TeliaSonera volunteers, and my partner in crime Jessica Collins.

Are you curious for more? We have live streamed the event via Play+ and we also have it available at http://www.witsthlm.com/
