M2M solutions have the potential to transform society, industries and the way we live through productivity improvements, greater user convenience, provisioning of value-added services and enablement of new business models.

Industry experts are outbidding each other when forecasting the number of global connected devices. The estimates range from 22 billion (IMS) to 50 billion (Cisco and Ericsson) by 2020, growing from an estimated 8-10 billion
in 2013.
