TeliaSonera donation to the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSE Riga) was announced today at a ceremony in the presence of His Majesty the King of Sweden in connection to his state visit to Latvia.

“We have enjoyed ten years of close co-operation with SSE Riga, a co-operation that has been very successful and I am pleased that TeliaSonera is one of the School’s main contributors. This donation is an investment in the education of the Baltic countries’ future leaders,” said Kennet Rådne, SVP and Head of Mobility Baltics, TeliaSonera, handing over the donation of SEK 1,250,000 (approx EUR 135.000) to SSE Riga students.

Established ten years ago
The cooperation between TeliaSonera and SSE Riga was established ten years ago when the TeliaSonera Institute (TSI) at SSE Riga was founded through a donation by TeliaSonera. The aim with the financing of the TeliaSonera Institute at SSE Riga is to contribute to Latvia’s higher education in economics and entrepreneurship.

“Drawing on the strength of its position as the leading business school in the Baltic countries, SSE Riga plays a leading role in securing the continued progress of the region. Innovation and entrepreneurship are determining factors for future growth. I am convinced that the joint initiative by SSE Riga and TeliaSonera to establish the TeliaSonera Institute has stimulated entrepreneurial development, especially in the fields of telecom and IT,” stressed Kennet Rådne.

A think tank of entrepreneurship and ICT
During the donation ceremony the Kennet Rådne stated that with this donation TeliaSonera hopes to benefit the development, creativity and improvement of the everyday lives of Latvians, Estonians and Lithuanians.
