TeliaSonera world leaders in carbon footprint management and reporting
This year’s Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) results show that TeliaSonera is now ranked among the world leaders in both carbon footprint management and reporting.
Since 2009 TeliaSonera has reported on its efforts to manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its operations. Continuing a steady positive trend, this year’s score of 98 (maximum 100) for disclosure and A for performance is a big step up from last year’s 83 / B. It places TeliaSonera in the global Climate Performance Leadership Index, consisting of only 187 companies who have achieved the best possible performance score. The disclosure score of 98 also places TeliaSonera in the Nordic Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, which consists of the top 10% scorers.
- We acknowledge the broad spectrum of risks to our current and future operations related to climate change, but also the business opportunities for us and the entire ICT industry as enablers of energy efficient and low carbon economy. Therefore during the year we have further strengthened our governance and capacity on how we manage and report energy and greenhouse gas emissions, and continued the rollout of initiatives that have helped us improve our energy and carbon footprint. Being included in both the CPLI and CDLI is recognition of the work we are doing to provide the world’s most energy and carbon efficient ICT networks, but much more remains to be done, says Henriette Wendt, TeliaSonera’s Head of Corporate Development and Sustainability Strategy.
