Vahid Mursaliyev new acting CEO of Azercell

Vahid Mursaliyev, Head of Legal Department at Azercell, has been appointed Acting CEO of Azercell starting January 5, 2015. Chiril Gaburici is leaving his position as Azercell CEO as of the end of December, due to his contract having come to an end. Chiril has decided to pursue other career opportunities outside the TeliaSonera Group.

Vahid Mursaliyev will perform as Acting CEO until a new CEO has been appointed by Azercell’s Board of Directors. Vahid joined Azercell in 2005. Since then, he has worked in various top managerial positions, including General Counselor to the CEO and Director of Legal Affairs and General Administration Department.
 
Vahid is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Baku State University. In 2001, he obtained his PhD in Corporate Management in Case Western Reserve University in the US. He is a member of International Bar Association, and Dr. of International Eco Energy Academy.

Chiril Gaburici has been with the Group for almost 14 years. Prior to joining Azercell in September 2012, he was CEO of Moldcell, TeliaSonera’s subsidiary in Moldova.
The executive search for a permanent CEO of Azercell will now start.
