TeliaSonera among top in telco anti-corruption assessment
TeliaSonera placed 4th on the overall ranking in Transparency International Hungary’s “Transparency in Corporate Reporting: Assessing the World’s Largest Telecommunications Companies”
The report ranks the world’s 35 largest telecommunications companies based on their disclosure practices in three dimensions: anti-corruption programmes, organisational transparency, and country-by-country reporting.
“Over the last years, TeliaSonera has made big efforts to strengthen its anti-corruption work. We have built up a new compliance organization from scratch, put a new governess framework in place and rolled out a massive training program throughout all our markets. We are not done yet, but I am pleased to see our efforts are noticed by Transparency International”, says Michaela Ahlberg, Head of Ethics and Compliance in TeliaSonera
Top-five telco’s are: Deutsche Telekom, Telenor, Vodafone TeliaSonera and Canadian Telus. 7 of the top 10 companies are from Europe. At the bottom of the list are telco’s in Japan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
TeliaSonera together with Transparency International Hungary and a number of other telecom companies are the key initiators for the Telecom Integrity Initiative, the purpose of the initiative is to facilitate industry-wide dialogue on corruption risks and the best practices in the telecommunication sector.
