TeliaSonera funds an anti-corruption scholarship

TeliaSonera will fund a TRACE scholarship for one person from a Eurasia/CIS country in support of anti-bribery efforts in the region.

Every year TRACE International, the globally recognized anti-bribery business association, invites applications for its TRACE Scholar Program, which fully funds three students from developing countries to pursue a Master of Laws degree (LLM) focused on advancing commercial transparency and raising anti-bribery compliance standards. Fellowship recipients spend an academic year at one of three universities participating in the program, followed by a paid summer internship at TRACE headquarters in Annapolis, Maryland, USA.

This year, TeliaSonera will fully fund a fourth TRACE Scholar at one of the universities. The TeliaSonera scholar will be selected from a Eurasia/CIS country in support of our anti-bribery efforts in the region.

"During the implementation of our anti-corruption program we have understood the importance of working with both our own operations and with the external context. The TRACE Scholarship is an excellent way for us to show our commitment to the fight against corruption in the Eurasian region," says Michaela Ahlberg, Head of Ethics & Compliance.

The TeliaSonera scholar will spend one academic year at his/her chosen university studying governance and economic development, business ethics and rule of law. The scholarship includes full tuition, lodging and travel. The law schools participating in 2016 cycle of the TRACE Scholar Program are Georgetown University, University of Washington School of Law, and King's College of Cambridge University. TRACE Scholars commit to returning to their country or region of residence, following the TRACE internship, to continue work relating to anticorruption.

Applicants should apply directly to their university of choice. Application details and instructions can be found at traceinternational.org. General queries can be emailed to TRACE at info@TRACEinternational.org.

TeliaSonera has already been cooperating with TRACE in its anti-corruption program. We utilize TRACE’s online training tools internationally available in different languages, such as Anti-Bribery or Conflict of Interest e-learning. These are accessible for all TeliaSonera employees.
