The difficult situation with power supply, damaged sites and a huge need for communication leads to congested networks. Ncell therefore urges everyone to communicate by SMS if possible in order to minimize the strain of the network.

Ncell continues its work to assess damages on the mobile network and, when possible, restart sites with portable power plants.

Ncell also makes sure that customers can communicate with family and friends. The operator offers all subscribers, as a first action, 50 free SMS and an amount sufficient to make necessary calls. Ncell is constatly reviewing if it can do more but also need to take into account not to put more strain on already overloaded networks.

Calls and SMS between other parts of TeliaSonera’s European operations and Nepal are free of charge.

To be updated when more information is available.
