Telia International Carrier upgrades Global IP VPN and IP Transit at ISPCON 2002

Telia International Carrier (Telia IC), the global wholesale and resale division of Swedish incumbent Telia AB, is today launching additional functionality to two of its core IP products; Global IPVPN and IP Transit.
As part of its strategy to maximise share within the IP arena amidst ongoing consolidation within the market, Telia IC has increased the value of both its IP VPN and IP Transit offerings. Telia IC is focusing on financial stability and longevity within the European carrier industry. This combined with a broad and flexible range of products across all voice and data communications solutions, Telia IC is the carrier of choice for some of Europe's top ISPs and carriers.
IP Transit (including Registry in a Box)
IP Transit has traditionally been a product aimed at ISPs and carriers needing wholesale IP connectivity. Telia IC's wholly-owned IP network, TeliaNet, provides the quality, flexibility and reliability - all backed up by Service Level Agreements (SLAs) - to meet these demands. Now, in response to customer demand, Telia IC is enhancing its IP Transit offering to provide maximum flexibility and service to all customers, irrespective of their size or IT infrastructure. For example, Telia IC will look after the whole range of IP connectivity needs, including securing an AS number and applying for domain names, something which to date some smaller resellers and carriers have not had the infrastructure or resources to do on their own.

Robert Timothy, IP Product Manager at Telia IC commented: "The smaller carriers have been disadvantaged in how they can provision and run services over IP to date. However, now Telia IC can sort out the whole IP package for them, no matter what their infrastructure or in-house resourcing. At the other end of the spectrum, customers which already have an AS number and domain names as well as their own NOC are simply looking for someone to manage their connection. Telia IC can now provide a solution to suit any size or IP requirements."
This one-stop shop approach can even include provisioning of local tails. This new service, Telia IP Access Management, means customers can pass local access management to Telia IC, ensuring they enjoy a door-to-door managed service with none of the management headaches.

Telia Global IP-VPN
Telia IC's existing global IPVPN offers ISPs and carriers secure, international connectivity for their customers intranet or extranet solutions as well as enabling them to 'fill in' missing parts of their own networks. Security and integrity of information is guaranteed by transmitting this information over Telia IC's wholly-owned and managed IP network, TeliaNet, using IPSec encrypted tunnels. In addition, the network is constantly monitored to maintain quality of service.
Today Telia IC is launching addition value added services of Internet access and a firewall to its Global IPVPN. The Internet access will greatly increase the speed of customers' access to information whilst the firewall further increases security against unauthorised access to a company's network.
Telia IC also offers its customers in the UK and Denmark national MPLS based IP VPNs - a product that Telia IC is planning to roll out across Europe in 2002. In the meantime the global IP VPN is fully interoperable with the national MPLS solutions, providing true global IP VPN connectivity.
Speaking about the improvements to both offerings Malin Frenning, head of products said: "Telia IC aims to be among the top three European Carriers in Europe by 2004. ISPs need quality and reliability from their carriers. By adding value to our products and providing top level account management and support, our customers can focus on building their own business with the reassurance that their connectivity and hosting requirements are taken care of by one of Europe's leading carriers."
