TeliaSonera Finland launches a Nordic service package for mobile business users

All wireless connections for active mobile users at a fixed monthly charge

TeliaSonera Finland launches a new package solution for mobile business users who use wireless data transmission actively. The TeliaSonera Connect subscription comprises all wireless access modes (GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, UMTS, WLAN) in a single package and at a fixed monthy price. The package also comprises unlimited use of the Homerun service and a large volume of data transmission. Apart from Finland, the uniformly priced service is also available in Sweden and Norway, and later on it will also be made available in Denmark.

The TeliaSonera Connect package solution is developed with particular view to the company's mobile workers who need to access the Internet, e-mail and the company's own systems irrespective of time and place. For example, the solution is suited for users of laptops or communicators who use wireless data transmission actively.

The TeliaSonera Connect service comprises different wireless data transmission methods in one and the same package, plus a Connect user interface by which they are easy to use. In addition, the offering in Finland comprises a GPRS/WLAN integrated card for the computer and a 3G card. The fixed monthly charge charged for the package also comprises 300 MB of data transmission on GPRS, EDGE or UMTS connections, and an unlimited right to use the WLAN-based Homerun service everywhere in the world where there is a Homerun network. At the moment there are about 800 Homerun hot spots that enable high-rate wireless Internet access and about 11,000 hot spots worldwide available through various roaming agreements.

"By unifying our access offering to provide the customer with a clear service entity and by pricing it accordingly, we aim to facilitate and promote the use of wireless data transmission. According to our surveys, more and more companies are interested in adopting services that enable mobile working, provided that it is easy and that the costs can be kept under control," says Lara Saulo, TeliaSonera's director responsible for development of mobile data.

TeliaSonera Connect is one of TeliaSonera's first concrete Pan-Nordic mobile services. Apart from Finland, the package is at the moment also available in Sweden and Norway, and later it will also be made available in Denmark. The service is similar in all TeliaSonera countries, so it is particularly well suited for companies that have operations in several Nordic countries. The pricing is also uniform, i.e. the fixed monthly charge for the service package is the same in all Nordic countries.

"Since the solution is similar in all Nordic countries, the customer receives the same service package and support at TeliaSonera's service points irrespective of country. The solution is ideal for business users working on the Nordic market, for example," says Lara Saulo.

The TeliaSonera Connect package will be supplemented in future with simplified GPRS roaming pricing and diverse VPN features (Virtual Private Network), which enable information-secure access to the intranet of the user's company.

In Finland, the TeliaSonera Connect package is sold by Sonera's service points and authorized Sonera dealers.
