TeliaSonera Finland to participate in the development of the Lahti environment cluster and environment campus

TeliaSonera Finland Oyj and Lahti Science and Business Park Ltd have signed a co-operation agreement on joint development of new types of operations models for the needs of industry and commerce in the Lahti region. The aim of the co-operation is to activate and support the utilisation of the latest communications technology and productivity-enhancing IT services in companies within the Lahti region. The focus of the co-operation is on advancing the services of the most important industry in the Lahti region, the environment technology, and the environment campus, which is governed by Lahti Science and Business Park Ltd.

”The agreement with Lahti Science and Business Park is a good example for the adoption of a new way of thinking in companies and public sector entities. The target of the co-operation is to advance the environmental targets, operations efficiency and productivity of our customer organisation. These targets can now be achieved by efficient utilisation of communications and IT services in the service and production processes of different administrative branches. For example, mobile tools that enable flexible working make it possible to cut daily travels to and from work and yet be present in the office – virtually. We at Sonera do our best to meet the targets now agreed on in a manner that pleases the customer,” says Jorma Maaninka, Head of Sales Area East at TeliaSonera Finland.

“Solutions that serve the productivity of companies in the environment industry and modern offices with electronic services play key roles in our future co-operation. We are building a world-class cluster of environmental research and business in Lahti. The construction of the first phase of the environment campus starts in spring 2007. Together with TeliaSonera Finland, we will design new solutions for the campus and provide state-of-art technology for our customers. In doing so, we are sure to improve the international business opportunities of the companies in the environment industry,” says Lauri Ylöstalo, Managing Director of Lahti Science and Business Park Ltd.

Lahti Science and Business Part Ltd coordinates and carries responsibility for clusters and for development of new operations models serving the needs of municipal residents, public sector entities and industry and commerce in the Lahti region. The new operations models aim to improve the productivity of the organisations in the region. In the development and use of the operations models, state of-art technology and productivity-enhancing IT services will be utilised.
