Telia receives SEK 300 million supply contract from AMS

The Swedish National Labour Market Board, AMS (Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen), will be the first government authority in Sweden that goes mobile without having to purchase a single mobile telephone. Instead, AMS will lease all of its mobile phones from Telia. The agreement, which runs over a period of three-and-a-half years, also includes the provision of mobile broadband service through 3G computer cards for the 1,000 employees who already telecommute or work with mobile methods.

AMS has chosen a new way to purchase communication services in which the authority leases everything from Telia, including the mobile telephones for its employees. In the agreement, Telia will supply 6,000 new mobile telephones to AMS during 2006.

AMS will pay a fixed monthly cost per employee that covers the telephone, subscription, service and option to change to a new phone every two years. In addition, the approximately 1,000 AMS employees who have equipped their portable computers with Telia Connect, for connecting to the Internet and company’s intranet through mobile broadband, will also be able to telecommute from home or from other locations outside their office.

“Mobility is being focused on more and more by many companies and organisations to increase their availability, accessibility and service. This new trend is that they are increasingly demanding managed services instead of individual products and services in order to simplify their operations and focus on their core business in a better way,” says Anders Tillander, head of Large Corporate Customers and Public Sector business at TeliaSonera Sweden.

The agreement with AMS also includes a PBX solution with voice-activated functions and telephony services (contact centre) for the Customer Service unit of Sweden’s Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen Kundtjänst) which has approximately 200 employees today. With the agreement, AMS will be the first government agency in Sweden to use telephone numbers with the national prefix 010 to have phones numbers that are not geographically bound to any particular region of the company. This simplifies administration when employees change offices and workplace locations.

About managed services
The agreement signed with AMS is part of TeliaSonera’s initiative to focus on the provision of managed services. When providing managed services, TeliaSonera assumes complete responsibility for the technology behind the communication service, including operation and service. The customer purchases a complete function, such as telephony.
