The new city of Raasepori to acquire Sonera's voice services
Following a tendering competition, Sonera and the new city of Raasepori have signed a three-year agreement on the delivery of voice services for the use of the new city of Raasepori. The agreement includes an option to extend this agreement by one year. The value of the agreement is EUR 800 000. An essential purpose of the service entity is to ensure the proper operation of voice communications as Raasepori is established at the beginning of next year.
According to the agreement, Sonera will deliver the service entity for a fixed monthly charge on the hosted service principle. The solution package, which has become widely popular among corporate customers, includes, for example, mobile and fixed voice subscriptions, a corporate number, PBX service, and an exchange in which the mobile phones, too, have been integrated as an easy-to-manage entity. The new service entity will be ready for use on January 1, 2009 at the latest.
The service solution is based on the development path leading to an open IP world and mobility. The introduction of the services does not require the city to make investments but, as the entity is bought as a hosted service, the features are available for the use of the city for the entire agreement period.
“One of he most important purposes of Sonera’s solution is to make sure the voice connections work when the new organization begins its operations at the beginning of next year as the towns of Tammisaari and Karjaa, and the municipality of Pohja unite to form the new city of Raasepori. When the service entity was built, our actions were steered by the city of Raasepori’s strong desire to find a cost-effective, easy-to-manage voice communication solution which is also flexibly scalable to meet the future communication development needs,” says Senior Vice President Batu Karasar, in charge of Business Services Finland.
”As a result of the tendering competition for the voice service system, the financial benefit for Raasepori is approximately EUR 200 000 during the agreement period, generating through lower prices and new technology. The new city of Raasepori will also obtain a considerably better voice service solution than the one currently in use in those above-mentioned public societies. In addition to the traditional PBX service, calendar information, extensive mobile phone services, an SMS system, and reachability chains have been integrated in the service. This results in better service provided for the people of the city of Raasepori and improved internal communication, too,” says City treasurer Thomas Karlsson.
