Smart people

There are many bright future visions, but someone must make all the ideas come to life. Education plays the most defining role in ensuring that the needs for specific competencies are met. When new, specific competencies cannot be found locally, many companies are forced to go abroad or hold back on development. A lack of skilled, digitally led domestic labour is not sustainable for any company or society that aspires to lead the way for others. Institutions for higher education must educate people in the evolving skill sets needed in the digital economy; schooling during the earlier years must ensure that students are equipped with the skills that enable them to choose this path. All school leavers should step out into the world with advanced digital skills. Not only will these skills be necessary for many future professions, but also a prerequisite for living in a digitalized society.

When an entire society changes in such a fundamental way as the Nordic and Baltic societies continue to do, it is important that everyone is on-board and can interact with the rest of society. As health care systems and social services become increasingly digitalized, there is a potential to improve many senior citizens’ lives by making crucial digital services more accessible and easy to understand. Together we should strive to ensure that all citizens get access to free digital training and skills, the public as well as private sectors havea responsibility to make sure everyone is able to make the most of digital services.

Used in a thought through and structured way, digital education tools will leverage learning, improve results, improve enagagment, decrease administration for teachers and make studies more individualized. The public-school system has a responsibility to introduce new tools, letting students reach their potential in a smart, fun and cost efficient way.
