Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes country specific reports on human rights

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently published a range of country-specific reports on the situation for a broad range of human rights in 44 different countries, along with a debate article.

The country reports cover a number of countries in which TeliaSonera has operations, such as Azerbajdzjan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In some countries there are signs and hopes for improvement as to the human rights situation, in some the situation has worsened.

In the article the ministers highlight the role of ICT - Internet, mobile telephony and social media - for the development of human rights. The Swedish Government prioritises Net Freedoms and has raised the issues within both the EU and the UN. TeliaSonera supports that the Swedish Government engages in Internet Freedoms.
