First mid-year sustainability update launched
In conjunction with TeliaSonera’s Q3 financial report the company presented its first midyear “sustainability update”. Communicating more regularly is a way for us to increase transparency and to encourage a public discussion and review of our company’ sustainability work.
In recent years TeliaSonera has raised its ambitions in matters of sustainability and responsible business. Even though the company still has a lot to do, TeliaSonera has made important improvement in short time. The great public interest in TeliaSonera’s work demands a high level of transparency. Most companies report on sustainability issues once a year, but from now on TeliaSonera will do it on a six month basis. The first mid-year sustainability update focuses on the progress and challenges in the focus areas of:
- Anti-bribery and corruption
- Freedom of expression, with an updated Law Enforcement Disclosure Report
- Customer privacy
- Responsible procurement
- Occupational health and safety
The report is audited by TeliaSonera’s regular auditors, just like the company’s financial reports. This is another way of showing how TeliaSonera addresses these issues seriously.
“Sustainability is at the core of our business. We want to be transparent to our owners, our customers and other stakeholders such as media and NGOs. This mid-year report is our latest concrete step to further enhance the openness and dialogue. It gives our stakeholders a new opportunity to more regularly understand how we work and what we have achieved, to evaluate our work and priorities”, says Anne Larilahti, new Head of Sustainability Strategy at TeliaSonera.
Our next Annual and Sustainability Report will be published in March 2016.
