Region Sweden in focus when Telia Company hosts Capital Market Day

Telia Company yesterday held its 2016 Capital Market Day, the first to be hosted in the company’s brand new headquarters in Solna, Sweden.

Over 100 analysts, journalists and other attendees gathered to hear members of the company’s management deliver an update on the latest developments in group strategy and financials, but also to hear more about region Sweden, where, among other things, developments in B2B, B2C and fiber rollout were presented.

Tuesday morning also saw a number of deal announcements being issued by the company – announcements that serve as proof points of the progress taking place in Telia Company’s transformation journey.

“We are well on track on our change journey towards becoming a New Generation Telco and to fully realize our potential in the Nordic and Baltic region, where we aim to explore the opportunities opening up in a fully digitalized society. The divestment of Yoigo in Spain and Sergel in Sweden, both announced today, are proof points of our ambition to increase focus on our core operations. We also remain dedicated to exploring opportunities close to the core, as evidenced by our new service Telia Zone, which we also announced this morning,” said Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of Telia Company.

Hélène Barnekow, CEO of Telia in Sweden, kicked off the second half of the presentation which focused on developments in region Sweden: “We are digitalizing Sweden by continuing the rollout of fiber, helping business customers get digital and developing new services to simplify and add more value for consumers.”

One of the hottest topics of the day was undoubtedly the rollout of fiber in Sweden, with numerous attendees asking questions on the topic during Q&A.

“The “Fiber Fever” keeps burning and we are on track to reaching our set target of 1.9 million homes by 2018. In a market that keeps on growing we continue to increase our market share,” said Anders Tillander, Head of Sweden Operator Business.

Significant advancements have also been made in the TV space, and Jonas Hasselberg, Head of Sweden Consumer Business, emphasized Telia’s leading position: “We are by far the fastest growing TV operator in Sweden. We are growing roughly twice as fast as our competitors and this is a strong foundation as we move into the future.”
