Sonera first Finnish Telco to certify its responsibility for people and environment
Sonera’s integrated management system, which monitors the company’s impact on occupational health and safety and the environment, has received ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. A growing business potential is one of the many benefits, as sustainability is increasingly important to customers.
The management system helps to improve energy efficiency, waste management and to enhance the employees’ safety and well-being, particularly regarding construction and maintenance of telco networks.
”I’m proud of our employees’ commitment. Concentrating major efforts on certifications makes sense for the business in so many ways. First, we can better meet legal obligations and the customers’ growing sustainability requirements, which unlocks new business potential. It also helps us to improve energy efficiency and waste management, which decreases our environmental footprint and generates cost savings. Further, engaged employees deliver better results,” says Valdur Laid, CEO Sonera.
By achieving the certifications Sonera is complying with Telia Company’s occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental policy, which state that all countries shall work to implement ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
