TeliaSonera´s Norwegian operations Netcom takes the name Telia

On March 1st NetCom will change its name to Telia and visualize that it is a part of the largest mobile operator in the Nordics. This marks the start of a new digital telecom era in Norway that will be beneficial for society as well as for private and business customers

— During the last two years, we have built the fastest and the widest reaching 4G net in the country, which over 96 percent of the population. We are proud of this and ready to look even further ahead. The name change marks the start of a strategic change in which we to a larger degree combine TeliaSonera´s international strength with our network position and local knowledge, so that we can offer world-class customer experience. Our customers will see hard proofs of this very soon, says Abraham Foss, CEO of Telia in Norway.

The largest operator in the Nordics
— NetCom has been on a remarkable journey since its birth in 1993. We were the first to improve the mobile network in Norway, we democratized the telecommunications business, and we have been in the forefront of the technological evolution ever since mobile communications entered our country. A magnificent part of our journey is completed, but the most important parts are yet to come. The first step on our way towards this future is to visualize that we are part of the largest mobile operator in the Nordics, who develops digital services and knowledge across borders, says Foss.
A common brand name removes borders, gives the customers more and better services, and strengthens Telia´s position.

Digital partnership for the future
In a known commercial that was shown in the early 2000s, NetCom stated that “The future is wireless”. Now the future is digital and the name change to Telia marks a milestone in the company´s history. The mobile technology can do amazing things and the smart phone has changed how people live their lives at all levels in society.

— Our customers embrace and live the digital revolution. They see no boundaries and literally have the world in their pockets. We must be in the forefront and team up with our customers and partners, in order to drive the technological development forward in the future. We shall move from being a standard mobile operator to a digital company, delivering unique customer experiences, says Abraham Foss.
