Telia Company – a global leader in gender equality
Social venture Equileap ranks Telia Company among the very top of more than 3,000 public companies across the globe for its progress towards gender equality.
Equileap has researched and scored 3,048 public companies from 23 countries, using 19 criteria to measure their progress towards gender equality, such as gender balance in leadership and workforce, equal compensation and work/life balance, policies promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Telia Company scored an overall sixth place and is first among telcos in the list of the Top 200 who have demonstrated a commitment to gender equality.
“We are of course very happy that our path towards gender equality is recognized in a global survey. Equality is a competitive advantage, not only for us but for all companies. We still have things to improve but equality is highly prioritised and constantly on our minds,” says Cecilia Lundin, Head of People and Brand at Telia Company.
Equileap’s ranking shows for the first time how well the world's top public companies perform on gender equality across all sectors and countries. The top five countries in the ranking are Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland and the United Kingdom. French company L’oreal is top ranked by Equileap.
Equileap in its report writes: “The level at which the gender balance gap is starkest is amongst company executives, the Top 200 companies manage an average of only 20% women to 80% men, compared to an average of 10% female to 90% male executives in the rest of the Database.”
Equileap is a social venture that aims to accelerate progress towards gender equity in the workplace as a vital lever in reducing poverty and inequality.
