Let’s celebrate volunteers
Today both Telia Company and the UN recognize those who have engaged in the volunteering initiative Younite, through what is International Volunteers Day.
December 5 will be celebrated with special events in all Telia countries. The Younite movement, which was introduced earlier this year to encourage employees to engage in activities connected to digitalization, is starting to make a true impact on society.
“So many unbelievably good things have been achieved through Younite,” says project manager Hilma Nordquist. “We want to sincerely thank and recognize those who have contributed, and we want more Telia employees to join the movement.”
Thousands of employees in all Telia Company markets have done quests. Here are just a few examples:
Through their AV1 robot, distributed with the help of Younite, kids in a Norwegian hospital join their friends at a concert with Norwegian superstars Marcus & Martinus.
Younite brings seniors and students together in Estonia, to teach and learn about digital communication.
Younite at Telia Company headquarters in Solna, Sweden: introducing kids to programming.
Talking to kids in Norway about safety online.
Younite volunteers in Finland discussing digital innovation with kids.
Telia Lithuania mentoring 30 women who want to start career in IT.
About International Volunteer Day
International Volunteer Day is mandated by the UN General Assembly, and is held each year on December 5. The idea is that volunteers and organizations should take the opportunity to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities.
The theme for 2017 is “Volunteers Act First. Here. Everywhere”.
