Telia steps up to collect data for children

It may become Sweden's biggest powerwalk. Thousands of Telia Company employees will gather today for the "Telia PEP! GIGAWALK". The total number of steps taken during the walk will be converted to data, gigabytes, and then donated to organizations working to promote children’s health.

A 30-minute powerwalk at several locations across Sweden, the event is part of Telia’s volunteer program YOUNITE, in which each employee may spend eight hours a year volunteering in projects aimed at helping people and digitalizing society.

The walking employees will keep track of and record their number of steps in an app, and once registered the steps will be converted to data. In the form of mobile wifi routers charged with the data, the gigabytes will be donated to organizations across Sweden working to promote a healthy lifestyle for children.

The event is also a way of supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.

The event bill be covered on Telia’s Facebook page and Twitter, and you’re welcome to check back here for images.
