Telia’s smart transport solution wins Best IoT Service award
Telia Company's Connected Vehicle service has won Finland’s Best Mobile Service competition in the IoT Service category. Telia’s solution was among the finalists in three out of six categories. Last year, Telia’s ice hockey app Liigavahti won a gold medal in the entertainment services category.
"This is great recognition for our new service," says Kalle Mehtola, Head of IoT sales for Finland and Baltics at Telia's Division X. "Several logistics and service companies, such as Neste, have been involved in the development of this service. Our Connected Vehicle has proven to increase efficiency and reduce both operating costs and emissions. It is a really exciting time in transport and logistics transformation, and we are pleased to be recognized for the part we are playing."
Telia Connected Vehicle makes vehicle and fleet management more efficient, helps promote more environmentally friendly driving, and enables fuel consumption to be reduced by up to 10 litres per 100 kilometer. The solution provides a vendor-independent IoT ecosystem for the optimization of heavy traffic. In trucks connected to the service, each driver will have a consolidated display in the cabin, making it possible for them to monitor in real time the truck's fuel consumption and receive different type of information regarding the vehicle and traffic information. The service is in use among others in Neste, Pohjolan Liikenne and Onnibus trucks and buses.
The winners of the competition, arranged by Digital Forum Finland, were awarded at the EU's Digital Transport Days in Helsinki. The annual competition received hundreds of nominations for six different categories. The chair of the jury was Sanna Marin, Finland's minister of Transport and Communications.
