Telia introduces local rate for calls throughout Sweden

Beginning February 15, 2000, Telia is discontinuing long-distance rates in Sweden and introducing one daytime and one evening/weekend local charge for calls to any destination in Sweden. In the new pricing plan, all national calls in Telia's fixed network will cost SEK 0.115 per minute in the evenings and weekends, and SEK 0.23 in the daytime.
Beginning March 15, the charge for calls from ordinary fixed phones to mobile phones will be reduced by up to 16 percent. The connection charge for calls in Telia's fixed network will be raised from SEK 0.40 till SEK 0.45 as of the same date. "During the past year we have implemented a number of price reductions for both international and domestic calls," commented Jan Rudberg, Executive Vice President of Telia's Home Solutions Business Area. "As prices between operators differ less and less, the importance of quality, service and availability increases. Customer support and free Internet support 24 hours a day - plus an expanded range of personalised services available through - are examples of areas that Telia is focusing on," continued Jan Rudberg. Those who benefit the most from today's rate changes are private individuals and companies who call through the ordinary fixed network to mobile phones and have many long-distance calls in Sweden.
