NetCom ASA launches GPRS in Norway

Telia's Norwegian mobile company, NetCom ASA, today launches GPRS in Norway. GPRS enables the customer to be constantly online on the Internet and also to pay according to transferred data amount instead of amount of time.
NetCom ASA also opens a new mobile service, NetCom MobilMail, primarily aimed to corporate customers. NetCom MobilMail gives access to the Outlook mailsystem in the mobile phone. With this new service the Norwegian customers are now able to send and receive email, have access to telephone-and address calender and a diary. NetCom Mobil Mail is available for all mobile phones supporting WAP.
Instead of paying for the amount of time being online, the customer now pays according to transferred data.
No connection fee or monthly fee is charged. The customer instead pays 75 NOK/month for the first megabyte, following megabytes are charged 25 NOK/Mb. During February the service is free of charge as an introduction offer. Speech is charged according to ordinary prices. Due to the market development other pricing models may be relevant in the future.
One megabyte is equivalent to downloading 700-800 WAP-pages or sending/receiving 1000 emails.
