Telia's Viking Network transmits Polish TV to USA

Telia International Carrier and Telewizja Polska USA, Inc. the American partner of the Polish National Television in USA have closed an agreement to transmits TV programmes over the Atlantic through Telia's Viking Network.
The modern equipment for processing TV pictures, produced by EVS has been successfully connected to Viking Network backbone in Warsaw (Poland) in December 2002, thanks to a new technical solution, developed by the two parties. Satellite broadcasting enables production teams to move around freely and get their programs broadcasted from any location. A fixed network solution will guarantee a stable and high quality transmission, and is therefore an excellent alternative to satellite broadcasting. - One of our goals, when introducing the new TV programme to American market has been to use a reliable and high quality data transmission between the two continents. We believe that the transmission system elaborated together with Telia is the right solution and it is as reliable as the transmission over satellites, said Boguslaw M. Spanski, CEO of Telewizja Polska USA, Inc. Transmission between the continents is conducted over the SDH infrastructure in the high-capacity Viking Network, with trans-Atlantic reach, owned and supervised by Telia. - - - - About Telia International Carrier: TeliaSonera's wholly owned subsidiary, Telia International Carrier provides wholesale international IP, capacity and voice services to large customers at selected high volume destinations in Europe and in New York.
