27 Redundancies in the TeliaSonera Denmark

As part of the ongoing refocus program, the fixed-line operation of TeliaSonera Danmark, Telia Networks, had to make 27 employees redundant today.
During this year, Telia Networks is implementing a refocus program with efficiency measures aimed at optimising operations. Telia Networks also has experienced increased demands on its fixed-line products. This has resulted in a financial improvement during the first quarter. However, in order to take a further step towards the goal of a positive monthly result at the end of the year, the management of Telia Networks has deemed it necessary to make 27 employees redundant today. - Of course, I would have liked to avoid this situation, but unfortunately it has proven necessary to make the staff adjustment with a view to adjusting the company to the current financial and market situations. During the last couple of months, we have taken a number of successful business measures, but it is a tough market and we have to keep working to cutthroat financial requirements in order to achieve our objectives. This has led to today's redundancies, says managing director of Telia Networks, Peter Bredgaard. The redundancies will not affect the business of Telia Networks and does not involve any changes to the current supply of Telia products and services. - We still focus on our core business within telephony, internet and transmission. These are our strong points and we always strive for improvement, so that we may strengthen our business to the benefit of our customers and the group shareholders, Peter Bredgaard concludes.
