Over the next five years, Telia will manage the IT system operations of SDC an IT company that serves the Swedish forest industry. Telia won the managed services contract in competition with a number of major suppliers. The outsourcing agreement covers server operations, data communications, internet/Web management and data output management.
SDC, an IT company serving the forest industry in Sweden, has about 110 employees who provide IT services to companies operating in the forest products industry in Sweden to enable cost-effective trading, logistics and administration. IT services are focused on the accounting of timber-based business, energy and transportation operations, and systems for managing the flow of timber from forest to production facility. These services include the provision of computer equipment, data communications and production, and associated services.
Telia will manage SDC's IT systems and develop its managed services commitment, which will lead to future cost reductions for SDC. The agreement is valid as of September 1, the date when the operation and maintenance of SDC's IT systems will be transferred to Telia.
"This full-service commitment is completely in line with Telia's focus on managed-services business and initiatives in this area," says Liselotte Egerzon, customer account manager at Telia.
"A complete solution, price/performance and proactive management, and not least a sound and secure transition plan, were decisive for choosing Telia as our supplier," says Lennart Sanderyd, IT manager at SDC. "The fact that Telia's IT operations and customer contact are also located here in Sundsvall was another major reason for selecting Telia."
