Telia's enterprise customers get 3G in their computers

Starting today (Sept. 27), Telia can offer customers a PC card that automatically selects the fastest possible transmission speed in Telia's nationwide mobile network in Sweden. With the new card, Telia Connect - Telia's mobile service for enterprises - will be even faster, making it easier for company employees to telecommute and access their intranet, or the Internet, wherever they are.

A Telia survey conducted in May 2004 indicated that a growing number of managers and employees in Swedish companies are choosing to telecommute. Thirteen percent of the managers polled in the survey said they would telecommute more this year than in previous years. When telecommuting, the connection to the company intranet is one of the most important access functions, said those who participated in the survey.

Telia Connect consists of a data subscription, a PC card for GSM and 3G networks, and software. Up to December 31, 2004, 500 MB of data traffic per month are included for customers who subscribe to Telia Connect. In addition, customers who also want to subscribe to Telia HomeRun do not have pay the monthly rate for a 12-month period. With Telia HomeRun, customers with computers with built-in WLAN functionality also gain access to mobile broadband service (11 Mbit/s) at 6,000 hot spots in Europe, of which about 450 in Sweden.

The connection software Telia Connect can be downloaded free of charge at and is also suitable for customers who want to use their 3G mobile handset as a modem.
