TeliaSonera Finland provides telecommunications services for the EU presidency period

TeliaSonera Finland has been selected as the provider of telecommunications services for Finland’s EU presidency period (July 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006). The agreement was signed today.

The agreement covers telecommunications services in the broad sense, including voice, data, image and Internet services in the form of meeting services and external connections. The meeting services also include terminal equipment, and maintenance and consultation services related to it. There will be approx. 20 meetings around Finland during the EU presidency period.

TeliaSonera Finland and its co-operation partners deliver press centre technology on the turnkey principle. The deliverys comprises furnitures and fittings needed, and the cablings, connections and logistics. The consortium led by TeliaSonera Finland comprises, for example, YIT, Puustelli and Muuttopalvelu Niemi.

”We believe that we and our partners can exploit our combined experience from other large-scale events. We co-operated with the same companies already during Finland’s previous presidency in 1999,” says Timo Lahtinen, who is in charge of the project at TeliaSonera Finland.

TeliaSonera Finland also provided telecommunications connections for the World Championships in Athletics in 2005, the Ice Hockey World Championships in 2003 and 1997 and the Nordic Skiing World Championships in 2001.
