As a result of competitive bidding, TeliaSonera Finland Oyj and the State of Finland’s central procurement unit Hansel signed a framework agreement on the provision of the Government’s data communications. The agreement is valid for a maximum period of four years and covers a wide range of data communications services: office linking, Internet access, DSL connections for use at home and for linking remote workstations and other wireless connections.
”The decision to choose Sonera as a provider of the State’s data communications nicely complements Hansel’s recently announced decision to choose Sonera as the only provider of telephone subscriptions and services for the State of Finland. Together the agreements enable the procurement of more wide-scale entities at a competitive quality and price level”, says Markku D. Järvinen, who is in charge of governmental customers at TeliaSonera.
”In this competitive tendering, besides prices, Hansel considered the nationwide availability, customer services and incident management offered by the tenderers. Sonera and the two other selected providers succeeded in meeting these criteria”, says Timo Rantanen, who is in charge of the ICT service unit at Hansel.
The State of Finland consists of approximately 100 government bodies and state enterprises that make independent decisions regarding their information management solutions. The government bodies have a total of approx. 2,500 permanent offices around Finland. Most of the offices are located in Helsinki and in the capitals of the former and current provinces.
