Sonera to deliver Finland’s largest IP network to Veikkaus
Veikkaus Oy and TeliaSonera Finland Oyj have signed an agreement on the delivery of an IP network to Veikkaus as a hosted service. Veikkaus will use the IP network for the game terminal network of agent points. The nationwide IP network in question includes more than 3000 subscriptions and is the largest in Finland.
The new IP network service enables the introduction of the new games terminals of Veikkaus. The new games terminals and the IP network will be brought into use during spring 2007. The new IP network will replace the currently used data communications network.
The IP network of Veikkaus is a closed network. The requirements set for its information security are extremely high. Veikkaus requires that the new IP network provides reliable and secure connections from the agent points to the central systems of Veikkaus. The new IP network should also be cost-effective even in the long term, cover the whole country and enable realization of the needs of Veikkaus also in the future.
”We chose Sonera as our partner for many reasons. From the point of view of Veikkaus it is important that the supplier of the IP network has sufficient technological know-how and resources for implementing the data network for our games terminals network and for reliable maintenance,” says Production Director Esa Valtonen of Veikkaus Oy.
”TeliaSonera Finland has been the supplier of the Veikkaus OnLine network right from the beginning. We have gained good experience also on the previous reform of the OnLine communications network from 1997. The agreement that has just been concluded is very important to us. We want to focus our efforts particularly on quality and answer for the specified services and service level comprehensively,” says Senior Vice President Timo Levoranta of TeliaSonera Finland.
