Sonera’s installation, security and small PBX services in southwestern Finland to Eltel Networks and Isoworks

Sonera has agreed to transfer the business of its installation and security service unit in Turku and Loimaa to Eltel Networks Corporation and its small PBX services to Isoworks Oy. Consequently, about 100 employees will transfer to the employ of Eltel Networks and Isoworks, retaining their seniority. The transfer of business to Isoworks takes place on June 1, 2007 and to Eltel Networks on September 1, 2007.
”TeliaSonera’s strategy is to subcontract field work related to the construction, delivery and fault repair of the fixed network. Our installation unit in southwestern Finland has been an exception. Now we will also start to operate in line with our strategy in the Turku, Loimaa and Vakka-Suomi regions. Eltel Networks is already our installation partner, so it is natural to transfer the installation work to them and thus offer uniform services at keen price to our customers,” says Vice President Mika Matturi, head of the Product & Production Finland unit in TeliaSonera’s Broadband Services business area.
As Sonera starts to purchase the installation work from its partner, it also divests its security and small PBX service business. In future, Eltel Networks will provide security services in southwestern Finland, and Isoworks will continue to conduct the nationwide small PBX business, acting as Sonera’s subcontractor and partner. The objective is to unify the operations models and simplify the service offering as part of Sonera's turnaround programme, which aims at a major improvement in profitability.
”The transaction strengthens our telecom competence in southwestern Finland considerably, and our service offering in the area will be decisively expanded. We have a long history of cooperation with TeliaSonera, and the deal lays a good foundation for expanding the cooperation," says Aimo Nuottimäki, Country Manager of Eltel Networks Corporation.
”Isoworks has been TeliaSonera’s subcontractor in small PBX service business for years. We believe that as TeliaSonera concentrates on its core business, a direct business link between the small PBX customers and Isoworks gives us a better chance to develop both current and future services to the customers in question. The agreement is in line with our strategy of developing a comprehensive ICT service for the SME sector,” says Petteri Heikinheimo, Managing Director of Isoworks.
