Lower call rates for Sonera customers within the EU

The call rates for making and receiving mobile calls within the European Union will drop. The Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of Europe concerning international roaming enters into force on June 30, 2007. TeliaSonera Finland Oyj automatically offers the regulated rates to its customers as from August 30, 2007.
The EU regulation specifies a new price cap, or Eurotariff for the operators. The operators are obliged to apply the tariff to the roaming rates of calls made and received within the European Union. The change has been made easy for Sonera customers: the customers need not do anything to adopt the new Eurotariff-rates. Sonera’s new rates enter into force automatically on August 30, 2007.

Calls to Finland, the country of stay or another EU country: 0.49 € (VAT 0 %) 0.5978 € (VAT 22 %)
Receiving a call: 0.24 € (VAT 0 %) 0.2928 € (VAT 22 %)
*The charging period applied to calls is 30 seconds.
Further, Sonera simultaneously drops the mobile call rates applied to some countries outside the European Union, such as Switzerland and Iceland. As from August 30, 2007, calls made from these countries to the European Union cost €0.85/min. (incl. VAT 22 %).
“We have made the change easy for our customers: we offer them the regulated rates automatically as from the end of August. We see this as a positive piece of news to our customers. We believe that thanks to the new rates our customers will be increasingly more interested in using our mobile services when they are abroad,” says TeliaSonera’s Esa Rautalinko, Senior Vice President of Mobility Services Finland.
The new Eurotariff-rates will be applied to Sonera’s customers automatically. Sonera’s customers will receive information on the new rates in connection with their mobile phone invoices as from July. As from July, the new rates can also be viewed at Sonera’s web site, www.sonera.fi/matkalla.
