Employer/employee negotiations in Sonera’s Broadband Services completed

The employer/employee negotiations launched in TeliaSonera Broadband Services on January 20, 2009, have now been completed. As a result of the negotiations, 318 employees will transfer to the company’s Competence Pool.

The employees who will transfer to the Competence Pool represent almost all functions, i.e. production, customer processes, and sales and marketing. The positions to be terminated are mainly located in Helsinki (153), Jyväskylä (50) and Tampere (30). The aim of the efficiency programme of Broadband Services is to ensure the profitability of the operations and to provide for the investments necessary for migrating products and services to an IP-based platform.

According to the practice TeliaSonera follows in Finland, the holders of jobs to be terminated will not be dismissed. Instead, the company will apply its well-tried Competence Pool procedure. The employees transferred to the Competence Pool are supported in finding a new job, and they can seek new employment or redeployment for a period of time that is longer than the normal period of notice.

As a result of the employer/employee negotiations, the employer decided to recommend exchanging holiday bonuses for time off.
