TeliaSonera centralizes jobs to Regional Centers

TeliaSonera Finland launches negotiations with employee representatives to transfer approximately 140 jobs from smaller offices to Regional Centers. By doing this TeliaSonera will decrease its annual real-estate and administrative costs. All employees affected by the change will retain their employment and be offered equivalent jobs in new locations.

The concentration of operations is part of the efficiency programme that was launched in February 2008. The efficiency measures are being implemented since TeliaSonera cannot have higher structural costs than its competitors and to be able to continue changing the product mix by investing in mobility-based and IP-based services.

When operations are centralized to bigger units, critical competence can be secured and employees can be offered better training and career opportunities. TeliaSonera supports its employees in the change process by offering special incentives to employees and their families agreeing to move to another town or locality.

The jobs to be transferred are located in Hyvinkää, Imatra, Joensuu, Kemi, Kouvola, Mikkeli, Pori, Porvoo, Seinäjoki and Varkaus. The change will not have any effect on the number of Sonera shops or on the company’s other customer service points in these locations.

TeliaSonera will continue to have offices, shops and customer service operations in more than 50 towns and localities in Finland. In addition, the company serves its customers throughout the country through on-line customer service.
