TeliaSonera first with 4G in Latvia

TeliaSonera’s subsidiary LMT has launched the first commercial 4G / LTE service in Latvia. Thismeans that TeliaSonera has launched 4G in seven countries; Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark,Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania pioneering the Nordic and Baltic markets with superfast mobileservices.
“We have now launched 4G in all our Nordic and Baltic markets which makes us able to offer the fastest mobile services available on the market to the whole region, says Claes Nycander, Head of Mobility Technology Solutions at TeliaSonera.
In Latvia, the first base stations equipped with 4G are located in Jurmala and the coverage will be gradually extended along with the development of 3G network.
LMT, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons has launched commerical 4G / LTE services operating on the 1800 Mhz frequency band. Modems are offered operating in all networks; 4G, 3G and 2G.
TeliaSonera offers mobile services in Latvia through the mobile operator LMT. TeliaSonera owns 60.3 percent of LMT.
